Q: Is this service free?
A: Yes! It is free of charge, immediate activation and easy to remember. You allow us to
show a pop-up window advertising every time your site gets visited.
Q: Why do I need the service?
A: Because it is free of charge, immediate activation and easy to remember. If you want to
advertise your website, 3URL.com URL is more awesome and easy to remember than any other
URL. That means your promotional campaigns will be more effective and you will increase
your exposure on the Web.
If you are soon to loose or change your present Internet address. 3URL.com URL is the
perfect solution for a permanent Internet address. If you change your provider, loose your
account at school or change work all you need to do is edit your forwarding address at
3URL.com to the new location.
Q: How can you guarantee a lifetime URL?
A: Unless you use this service for unlawful destinations and/or violate the netiquette at
any time, we'll do our best to reserve your 3URL.com redirect URL. We do however
reserve the right to modify, cancel, or suspend any accounts for any reason without
notice.
Q: What is an URL?
A: An URL is how webpages are referred to http://3url.com or http://hk852.to are both examples of an URL.
Q: What is a redirect?
A: Redirecting is the basis of our service. You choose your URL, e.g.: hk852.to/tom or hk852.to/test and tell us where to redirect it. When someone types
hk852.to/tom into the Location box of his/her browser, the request is sent to our server
which forwards it to the server where your web is hosted.
Q: What is a domain?
A: A domain is a place on the Internet, possibly with multiple computers providing
multiple services to the Internet community. Unfortunately, this explanation probably
tells you nothing :) You see domain names every day, lucky7.to is an example of a
domain. So is netscape.com and yahoo.com. A domain is the home of the
various companies on the Internet and the letters often put in front of domain names, are
different computers/services on those domains. altavista.digital.com is Digital's
excellent AltaVista search utility and www.netscape.com is Netscape's World Wide Web
server.
In our case it doesn't matter if you type www.lucky7.to or lucky7.to, they
are the same machine. Why on earth someone would put a www. in front of their domain name
is beyond us, probably one of those silly conventions.
Q: What does ".to" stand for?
A: ".TO" is the top level domain for the country of Tonga. Additional
information about the South Pacific Island nation of Tonga is available from Tonga.
Q: What URL's are available?
A: There is no list of what URL's are taken. The only way to find out if your desired URL
is reserved is to fill out an order and try to reserve it yourself. Our script will then
scan the database and inform you of the status of your desired URL.
Q: What kind of name can I register?
A: The usernames on our system must start and end with a english alphabetical letter (a-z)
or number (0-9).
Then minimum length is 1 characters. The username will appear in your URL, i.e.
http://lucky7.to/your_login.
Q: Do I get some space on your server?
A: No! We does not provide any space for web hosting. We just URL redirect. If you need
free space, you can visit this link:
http://www.geocities.com
Q: Will I have to move my web to your server?
A: No!
Your web could be hosted wherever you want. We only redirect the request for your URL to
your website.
Q: Will it slow my server?
A: No!
Once people have accessed your server, they don't have to go through us anymore. It is
only you and them.
Q: Will you have access to my server?
A:No!
We don't need to have any access to your server. The only thing we need to know is the URL
you want your 3URL.com to be redirected to.
Q: Is there any delay?
A: Using our redirect URL service induces a delay from 0.35 sec. and upwards. Once the
user is at your site, there is no extra delay. As you probably know, the actual time taken
to access a website varies widely. The biggest variables in that time are the bandwidth of
the server where your web is located and how well the user is connected.
Q: Can I change my member information?
A: Yes, you just log into the member section and you can change your member information
i.e. your name, your current URL, your current e-mail address, and password except
"your login".
Q: I forgot my password, what can I do?
A: You can go to the "Member Login" page and click "I forgot my
Password". We will e-mail your password to your registered e-mail address.
Q: My URL isn't working, why?
A: In the worst case our server could be down. More often it's a problem on the server
that hosts your pages or a problem with the connection from your computer to the net.
Before you notify us please check your connection and all your info in the member section.
If you keep having problems with your URL please contact us.
Q: How can I promote my site?
A: There are good and bad ways to promote your site. A bad way would be by spamming your
URL on the net. Please don't spam your new URL! We have had complaints in the past about
people spamming their new URL to several news groups or hundreds of email addresses. The
complaints always end up at our service because they think it is us who are responsible
for it. If you spam and we get complaints about you, you will be disconnected. This is for
our own protection since people get a very negative idea about our service if we are
regularly connected to spams.
Q: If I am a spammer, can I use your service?
A: NO! 3URL.COM Redirect Services feels very strongly that the sending of unsolicited bulk
email ("spamming") constitutes theft of service, and we do not condone the use
of our service for this purpose. If we receive complaints that a redirection URL has been
used for this purpose, we will investigate the complaints and take legal action against
the owner of this URL. We will redirect all URL's used in spam or such bulk mail
solicitations to spam.
